THE STORY OF ANDERSON MFG & UPHOLSTERY, INC.

Dave Anderson began Dave’s Custom Upholstery in 1982 with one sewing machine, one spoil of thread, and a dream to take care of and provide a better life for his family. Dave’s Custom Upholstery was born, from meager starts Dave happened upon a man by the name of Jerry Michealac who saw Dave’s talent and offered him a chance to work with the design team at SeaRay Boats. At SeaRay Boats worked with Jerry and his visions and developed Dave’s talent and skill at marine design. Dave even designed a couch for the 40 foot yacht line they said couldn’t be built. SeaRay builder’s couldn’t duplicate it quite right so begins the full-production division of Dave’s Custom Upholstery. He started a full-production account working on several of the boat lines for Boston Whaler and became regular face at the Boston Whaler plant, and over the years Dave has done design work, and/or full-production for most of the Florida Boat companies. Over the years we’ve developed and continue to build the pattern inventory and still have original materials back to 1968 for Boston Whalers boats. We’ve diversified and developed other parts of the business were the company now serves corporations like Lockheed Martin, United Launch Alliance, NASA and even the Navy and Missile Defense. Tena has a natural inclination with numbers, geometry, reading blueprints, and making sure all little details required are met, while Dave with all his hands on skills looking at everything from an artistic and structural eye, an unstoppable team has formed. We serve upholstery and support equipment accors land, sea, sky and even space! The team ships all over the world every month, and working with and have the most productive happy crew ever. Currently, Dave and Tena are in the midst of developing another branch. The past three years they’ve been developing a property in Indiana and will be breaking ground on a 4 1/2 car garage to begin a secondary US centrally located starter facility in Indiana. Giving Dave the freedom to go back and forth and be with aging family while still continuing to build the business and provide more flexibility for our customer base. The company may be tiny, but our hearts are big and we love the work, so having stood the test of time we intend to be around for a long while.
